Kansas 811 is the underground utility notification center for the state of Kansas. Through this facility, you can notify operators of underground facilities of proposed excavations to request that the underground facilities be marked before you dig. By making one call, all underground utility operators will be notified of your work and will mark the lines for you within three business days. There is no cost to you for this service. Be sure to call 72 hours prior to digging.

The utility companies will use colored flags or paint to indicate the approximate location of their underground utilities. What do the markings in my yard mean?

White: Proposed excavation, Pink: Temporary Survey Markings, Red: Electric power lines, Yellow: Gas, oil, steam, Orange: Communication lines, Blue: Potable water, Purple: Slurry, irrigation and reclaimed water, Green: Sewers and drain lines
