At Newton Fire/EMS, the department maintains three shifts that rotate on a 24 hours on duty, 48 hours off-duty schedule. Each shift staffs 15 firefighters certified as EMT-Basic, EMT-Advanced or EMT-Paramedic.  A Lieutenant and three firefighters are assigned to Station 1; a Captain, and six firefighters to Station 2; and a Lieutenant and three firefighters to Station 3.
