All dogs 6 months old or older in the City of Newton must be licensed. Animal Licenses are issued in the Water Billing Office on the first floor of City Hall, 201 E 6th. To get an animal license, you must have proof of current rabies certificate and, if applicable, proof of the animal being spayed/neutered.
Fees are due on January 1 (later penalty fee applies after March 1).
Fees charged:
$10 - Neutered male or spayed female
$20 - Other dogs
$10 - Additional penalty if not paid by dates listed above
If a dog is micro-chipped, fees are reduced by $5.
