The City of Newton will present results of the South Kansas Avenue traffic study at an open house from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fire/EMS Station 3, 2520 S. Kansas Ave.
The City and consultant Parsons Brinckerhoff have been studying the section of South Kansas between 14th Street and 24th Street to look at ways to improve safety and traffic flow in the area, especially as development continues.
The study included a survey of area residents, area businesses and the Newton public at large to better understand the needs of travelers in the area. The survey included questions about the way traffic is currently handled, ideas for improvements and accommodating future development.
The study coincided with the road reconstruction project in the area, but is not related to that project.
