More than 400 South Breeze students and staff will gather at 8:30 a.m. Thursday and walk from the school to Newton Medical Center in celebration of the completion of pathway that connects the school to neighborhoods south of U.S. Highway 50.
The students will pause in the NMC parking lot for some healthy refreshments before heading back to the school.
The pathway project was funded by the City of Newton, Newton Medical Center, Dillons, and a Safe Routes to School grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation. The goal was to provide a safe route for children south of U.S. 50 to walk or bike to school at South Breeze.
